When Animals Answer “How Old Are You?”

Sometimes guardians ask me to find out how old their animal is — especially if they don’t know themselves. And what comes through is often really beautiful.

Animals don’t always experience age as a number on a calendar. They relate to life in seasons, stages, and how their body and energy feel right now.

Sometimes they’ll share a clear number. Other times, they’ll tell me they’re in their playful era, feeling more mature, or wanting extra comfort and ease.

When the answer surprises you, it doesn’t mean your animal is wrong — it usually means they’re sharing their experience from their perspective.
